Inspiration for Master Makeover!

I've slowly (S-L-O-W-L-Y) been working on redoing my master bedroom.  Above are the colors that I want to use.  I want to paint my walls the deep chocolate color and have the deep aqua as my accent color.

I just can't find a comforter or quilt in the colors I want anywhere...........  so I'm thinking I might enlist the help of my MIL and, with her guidance, I may attempt to make a quilt.  In the pictures above, I found some fabric at Joann's that I love.  But I only found 2 bundles - nothing on bolts.   Paducah is only a couple of hours away, and we all know that's where they have a ginormous quilt show every year.  I figure there has to be one or two awesome fabric stores somewhere around there - right??  (6/6/11 - I saw this quilt pattern last week somewhere in blogland, and I have spent the last 2 days SEARCHING for the blog I found it on so I can give credit where credit is due............  APPARENTLY I didn't bookmark the page, and I can't find it.  If any of you know it or know where it is............. PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!  please & thanks!!)

6/7/11 - YAY!!  I found the pattern!!  It's by Kerrie Lyne at Freckled Laudry and Riley Blake Designs, and you can get the pattern, too!   Just click HERE!!   It's listed with a fantastic EASY-TO-FOLLOW tutorial!!  All of the quilts are gorgeous, but this one is my FAV!!

I'm also working on items to hang on the wall.  I LOVE the patchwork prints by Grace Feyock in Ballard's catalog.  I've been on the hunt for SQUARE frames for 3 or 4 months.  I finally found two of them at goodwill and snagged them up.  I've sanded the finish off and have painted them the off white color that I'm using (for everything it seems) in my room.

I have an OLD and unusual window.  It has 5 panes, with the center pane a diamond.  (you'll see!!  It's cool!!)  I've been DEBATING on what I wanted to do with it.  Replace the glass?  Put tin flashing in it?  Make it a mirror?  I figured it out Saturday night.  I cut cardboard out to fit the panes, then used the fabric you see above to cover the cardboard.  I'm waiting for the paint to dry, and then I'll put it all back together.    It's so cute!!

I've got another door that has one huge pane of glass.  I've also got some of that krylon looking glass paint...........  you know what I'm thinking???  uh huh..................  I can't wait to get that done!!!

I hope you all have had a great weekend!  It was hot here.  Today(6/6/11) is my son's 21st birthday.  We had a big birthday dinner for him yesterday.  Of course, I fixed way too much food.  But that just means I won't have to cook tonight!!!  (he turned 16 on 6/6/06 and I made him wait a day before he got his license.  He wasn't happy with me............   but he got over it!!)

Here are a couple more pictures...........

  1. Good luck with your project. I am one of those people afraid of color on the walls - but I love to see what others aren't afraid to try - lol. So glad I followed you here from the Crafty Soiree #40! I'm also linking up if you'd like to drop by!
    Hugs, antonella :-)
