WOW!! I AM a Little Funky!!

I'm sure you are all aware by now that Funky Junk Interiors and Miss Mustard Seed are each hosting their own copy me challenge liky parties.  If you are not aware of this - - Where have you been???  :-)  Seriously, if you didn't know this, please check out Funky Junk Interiors copy me challenge linky party here!  And here is Miss Mustard Seeds's copy me challenge linky party.  There are sooo many super-cute ideas that everyone is coming up with.  While I was perusing Funky Junk, I came across this post from The Essense of Junk.  And that's how I realized that I AM JUNKY, too!!!  Girls, I am so excited!!  These two items I have in my home are here because of what they mean to me.

First, this 30 gallon crock has been in our family for a long time.  My grandma used it when she did her canning.  Even when I was little, I thought it would be cool to make a table out of it.  So, after my daddy passed and I welcomed it home, my hubs helped me with a table top.  This is how it sits in my house today.  But it won't be like this for very long after seeing everyone's vignettes.......

I really think I might want to distress the top a little..............  hhmmmmmm

Next, I have been using a couple of old wooden crates for an end table that I got from Daddy, as well.  These were used by my grandpa, when my daddy was a boy, to haul decoys and trapping equipment and fishing equipment.  Well, I couldn't just put them in the garage, now, could I??

Ooopppssss - my grandson knocked over one of my mason jars!!!  Little stinker!!  The frame in the top right corner is a shadow box that holds some of the fishing lures Daddy and his dad used.  I'm not sure who 'donated' the wooden paint bucket or the birdhouse, but I love them!!  I also have an old bowl on top with yarn in it and a lamp I made out of a mason jar.  To the left is an old crock - very unusual, and I'm not sure what it was used for.

I will be revamping some of these displays as I pull my living room together.  I'll post more pictures then.  I just don't think it will be before this challenge is over and I want to submit what I have!!

Thanks for looking!!

Painted Star Tutortial

I'm not one to always follow directions..........  just so's you know.  I'm going to tell you how I painted these cute stars (but I'm not telling what they're for - - yet!!)...  Since I know that they are not going to be washed much -- if at all - - I probably didn't follow the proper methods of preparing my fabric.  But that's ok - - remember - - my house is going up for sale as soon as we have it ready.  This project is to help the 'cute-ability' factor..........

First, I traced one of the cast iron stars I picked up this weekend to use as my pattern.

I traced it on cardboard so I could have a sturdy stencil to use.  The edges of the star were not the smoothest, so I used my ruler to make smooth lines.  I want a clean edge to paint.

Next, I measured my 'object' that I am painting to align the stars in a row and get them evenly spaced.

Then I drew a line in the center of each point so I could paint 2 colors.  I chose an espresso brown and a nutmeg brown (just your ordinary run-of-the-mill acrylic craft paint).

I started with the espresso (ok - - so I didn't trace my first star exactly where I wanted it, and had
to move it up about 3/4 of an inch..........  it's a learning thing....)

Then I painted my nutmeg brown.  I had to go in with a small brush and sharpen the point details after I got them painted.  These don't have to be perfect, because where they're going, people won't be able to get right up to them and critique my painting (Thank Goodness!!)....

And here's one of them done.  I'm debating on whether or not I need to outline them in black,
or just leave them as-is.  I'll wait to make that decision when I have all 12 of them painted.

Hmmmm what do you think I'm using these for???   Stay tuned!!

A Little Sneaky Peek!

Do you ever catch yourself in the middle of 3 projects that you are excited about and you just don't know which one to work on first?  So then you work on them all at the same time multi-task and............ then it takes even longer to get just one of them done?  Throw in the job, laundry, cooking, sleep, hubby, kids, fur-babies, etc etc etc.....  yeah.......  ya'll been there, I'm sure!!

Well I worked on one of my projects Saturday and I worked on another one last night. Here's a picture of each...........  Any guesses what I'm doing?  Hmm.....  what could it be??????

Sent a couple of pictures of the stars to my daughter and now she's confused!!  But that's OK - - it will all make sense when its done........

I hope you like my Tuesday Morning Teaser!!  Hopefully SOMETHING will get finished before the weekend - especially if we get that ice storm that's predicted for later today and tomorrow!!  I KNOW I can paint by candlelight!!!!

Happy Tuesday!!!
